Finally, Adiala Jail has released Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI’s founder Imran Khan, from the jail amid multiple delays. The errors in her paper work repeatedly faced had seen the release order being issued three times incorrectly before the final one was issued.
Bushra Bibi was already in lock-up on charges related to illegal retention and selling of expensive gifts in the Toshakhana II case, for which she had been granted bail amounting to Rs 1 million. Her surety Malik Tariq Mahmood Noon had paid that amount.
Islamabad High Court had granted her bail on October 23, 2024, but owing to paper work issues, she was not released the very same day. After which, apparently all paper work is proper, jail authorities have given permission to Bushra Bibi to leave the jail.
This is an update of the continuing lawsuit of the charges made against Imran Khan, among others, on Toshakhana and its rule. Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, had been in custody for more than a week since July in a separate Toshakhana case relating to another valuable item, namely the watch.
Bushra Bibi is being released following the intense pressure emanating from the court and numerous attacks against the delay in bringing the accused before the court.
Her fight with the law is still on, however, and the case is going on.
