Islamabad High Court grants bail to Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana 2 case. The court, led by Justice Mian gull Hassan Aurangzeb, accepted her surety bonds of Rs 1 million each.
Today, arguments from Salman Safdar, lawyer for Bushra Bibi, and FIA prosecutor Umair Majeed Malik were presented during the case hearing, which resumed today. Yesterday, Salman Safdar had completed his arguments, and today, the stance of the FIA prosecutor was put forth.
Justice Aurangzeb questioned who the gift was given to since Bushra Bibi wasn’t holding public office, though the gifts were received by her husband Imran Khan while he was in public office. Interestingly, during the hearing, the judge referred to other countries, saying how world leaders and even the British Prime Minister have been condemned for keeping gifts.
The FIA prosecutor argued that the gifts belong to the state and have to be declared or legally purchased. He opined that these gifts cannot be kept privately without following the due process, which mainly includes proper valuation and payment within four months.

Salman Safdar, lawyer of Bushra Bibi, said the case revolves around undervaluing gifts by the private assessor, who is now an approver. He further argued that no one from the officials from the Cabinet Division or the customs department is held responsible despite their involvement in the procedure.
Bushra Bibi is detained in the jail for more than 264 days, and her counsel submits that she is imprisoned to exert pressure on Imran Khan. He further elicited that she was a housewife and did not have any political affiliations and was not a public office-holding figure, which by itself gives a good bail plea of Bushra Bibi.
It is the end as well; the court allowed Bushra Bibi to be released on bail, which sets the course for better activities ahead in the case.
