The alleged rape of a college student in Lahore has sparked intense debate among the public and showbiz personalities. Reports suggested that the incident occurred at a private college in Gulberg, leading to widespread protests and calls for justice on social media. However, authorities, including the police and the Punjab government, denied the reports, calling them false rumors.
Following the allegations, a security guard was arrested, which fueled outrage. Social workers and students protested, demanding justice. In response, the police detained 27 protesters, escalating tensions further.
Several celebrities, including model Nadia Hussain, actor Mani, and comedian Shafaat Ali, claimed that the rape allegations were false. Shafaat Ali shared his views on social media, calling the story a fabrication and urging the government to punish those spreading fake news. He criticized the confusion caused when the Punjab Education Minister suspended the college’s registration.
Actor Mani also stated that multiple sources, including the Punjab Police and ASP Shahrabano, confirmed the incident never happened. He emphasized the need for verifying facts before jumping to conclusions.
Nadia Hussain praised the students for their courage but was relieved after hearing from ASP Shahrabano that the incident didn’t occur. She stressed the importance of having accurate information in such serious matters.
This situation highlights concerns about the spread of false information on social media, the role of public figures in addressing sensitive issues, and the potential harm to real victims of violence. While many push for justice, others call for factual integrity to protect innocent individuals and focus on real cases of abuse.
