Rawalpindi Test highlights: Sajid Khan was the cynosure as Pakistani spinners achieved a perfect game as they took all ten wickets and bowled out England for just 267. Sajid Khan picked six, while Nauman Ali accounted for three wickets, and Zahid Mahmood picked up the final wicket.
England’s innings started well with openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley taking the team to a 56-run opening stand before Duckett held his ground with a 52-run knock, which came to an end at the hand of Nauman Ali. From there onwards, the rest of the English batting line fell crump. Zak Crawley scored 29 before getting dismissed, and no batsman but him crossed double figures.
Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook went back for very low scores, which were sent back by Sajid Khan and played a crucial role in the middle order. England’s captain Ben Stokes had chosen to bat first on winning the toss but seems to have taken the wrong decision as they were soon reduced to 98-5. Pakistan did not make any change, whereas England brought two players to the crease, Gus Atkinson and young spinner Rehan Ahmed.
Yet still, they could not get hold of Pakistani spinners attack. This Test match is the third of the closely contested series, and going into this last Test, the two teams are level at 1-1. The first two matches played in Multan saw the home side thumped by an innings and 47 runs by England in the first Test. But Pakistan staged a three-wicket comeback in the second Test to win by 152 runs. This one can be a thrilling decider.
