Much shocking details have been revealed in the post-mortem report of Dr. Shahnawaz Khunbhar, who was killed during an encounter in Mirpurkhas. The report said his body had numerous injuries, including broken ribs and gun shot wounds. Those wounds, the medical team says were enough to be fatal.
The autopsy report states that Dr. Shahnawaz was tortured to death. His family says that after this he was taken to the leader’s house, where he suffered terrible torments and died. They suspect his corpse was incinerated after the ill-treatment.
The bereaved family accused the Mirpurkhas hospital management of tampering with the post-mortem report and demanded that a comprehensive investigation be launched into how it was obtained. The inaction also led to protesters rallying against the doctors at Tuptim military hospital, accusing them of a cover-up over evidence of torture. They are demanding doctors be booked by law for hiding the real cause of Dr. Shahnawaz death.
