Social media sites had gone ballistic when reports stated that PTI stalwart Asad Umar had indeed met President Asif Ali Zardari and joined the PPP, but now Umar says otherwise; he told them in a press briefing outside the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court.
Rumors and Umar’s Response
In his statement, Umar said he cannot believe where these rumors come from, questioning how such information is fabricated. He said he’s currently based in Lahore and that he hasn’t met Zardari and has no intention of getting closer to any political party. According to Umar, if he wanted to return to politics, he would’ve stayed with PTI rather than switching allegiances.
Bushra Bibi’s Case and Other Clarifications
Question – In response to a question on the subject of the release of Bushra Bibi, Umar dismissed all claims to a “deal” containing her as simply rumors while stating the truth that, in fact, PTI outright denies the very notion of making deals.
Why Did Umar Come out from Politics?
Asad Umar joined PTI in 2012, where he remained as an ardent follower of Imran Khan. He acted as finance minister when PTI came into power in 2018. However, after the government fall in 2022 and arrests in the politics field were made in May 2023, Asad Umar quit his politics life and said that under any circumstances, he will never return to his political life.
Conclusion
Umar has in his latest statement clarified himself clearly on his position; meanwhile, all the rumors and other speculations about his comeback in politics or any relation or connection with other parties could be ignored. So he is still firm that in no circumstances will he move back into politics to indulge in any political activities now.
