China Urges Pakistan for Increased Protection of Citizens Amid Security Concerns

China has asked Pakistan to improve stringent protective measures for its citizens and investments in Pakistan, following recent security fears. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong said this on Friday while speaking at the celebration of China’s 75th National Day which took place in Islamabad. According to him, China’s President Xi Jinping was deeply concerned with the issue of safety for Chinese people overseas, especially in any place where the country was engaging in serious activities with direct interests.

Pakistan’s deputy prime minister, Ishaq Dar, reiterating here that the government of Pakistan would take all measures to further enhance security for Chinese citizens, said “We have just faced such incidents, targeting Chinese nationals, and still some have been arrested” while efforts are being employed to nab the rest responsible for such incidents, declared Dar.

Dar also emphasized that Pakistan is keen to maintain its strategic relationship with China, especially regarding initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He added that operations conducted under the Stability Operation also had the objective of protecting national security and maintaining critical bilateral ties. Dar further stressed the need for trust between the two countries when he revealed his intention to have more talks on these security issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a visit.

There had been quite a few trials that Pakistan-China partnership experienced in the past, but both of them are now striving hard to create an affluent and stable regional setting. Concluding, Dar said he predicted how quickly China’s would rise into being an economic superpower and vowed that Pakistan would continue supporting this journey towards shared growth.
